Flea, born Michael Peter Balzary on October 16, 1962, is an Australian-American musician best known as the bassist and founding member of the Red Hot Chili Peppers. His energetic stage presence, virtuosic bass playing, and unique style have been integral to the band’s sound and success. Flea’s dynamic bass lines blend elements of funk, punk, and rock, contributing to the Chili Peppers’ distinctive fusion of genres. Outside of music, Flea is also an actor, appearing in films such as “Back to the Future Part II” and “The Big Lebowski.” He is widely recognized as one of the greatest bassists in rock history.
